The horse-shoe shaped Kyrenia harbor is the focal point of the town. The historical Kyrenia harbor, with its colorful fishing boats and yachts, and with its lively bars and cafes, is the heart of Kyrenia both for locals and the tourists.

Overlooking the Kyrenia harbor is Kyrenia Castle, which has been occupied through the centuries by different civilizations such as the Byzantines, Lusignans, Venetians and the Ottomons.
